Is the material stable at continuous temperature of 150°C?

Answer:

We are still evaluating long term use temperature, but believe that continuous use temperature as 150°C is depending on the application conditions.  The TIM is stable but some properties may change. (raw materials can all be used up to 200°C). In most applications, the product is exposed to 150°C condition for a short term (like temp cycle) rather than for  a continuous long term.  The criteria for pass and fail also depend on the industries and their standards.

Question:

Would contact thermal resistance increase with increased tackiness?

Increasing tackiness is a formulation adjustment that may effect thermal resistance. Other suppliers may need to add a tacky layer which impacts thermal resistance.

Do you have MIL/NASA outgassing data?

Answer:

Yes, the current formulation passes NASA outgas spec - ASTM E595.

Dielectric Strength?

Answer:

200 Vac/mil per ASTM D149.

Dielectric constant / Dielectric Loss?

Answer:

4.73 per ASTM D150 at 1 MHz.

What is CTE if the material in the x, y and z direction? 

Answer:

A thermomechanical analysis was done on 5 mm thick sample from room temp to 150°C at a heating rate of 5°C/min. The CTE measured in the Z direction (heat transfer direction in the gap) was between 30-50 ppm/°C.

Answer:

Between 0.5 mm and 5.0 mm

Can pads be reused?

Answer:

Reusing the products after long periods under applied pressure is not recommended.
